Meet Dr. Thomas A. Simpson
Dr. Thomas A. Simpson is a board-certified otolaryngologist at ENT Medical Services in Iowa City, providing comprehensive ear, nose, and throat care for adults and children across Eastern Iowa.
Dr. Simpson earned a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Psychology from The University of Iowa in 1984. That same year, he joined the Cardiovascular Research Center at the University of Iowa College of Medicine as a Research Assistant under the direction of Robert Felder, MD. In 1990, Dr. Simpson received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine.
Following medical school, Dr. Simpson completed a General Surgery Internship at Gundersen Clinic and Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin, from 1990 to 1991. He then returned to the University of Iowa Department of Otolaryngology, where he completed four years of residency training in Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Simpson became board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology in March of 1996.
Throughout his career, Dr. Simpson has held numerous leadership roles within the field of otolaryngology. He served as President of the Iowa Academy of Otolaryngology from 2002 to 2005 and as Legislative Representative to the Board of Governors for the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery from 2000 to 2005.
Dr. Simpson also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Medical Director of the Iowa City Ambulatory Surgery Center from 2008 through 2023.
